Unit 4 L/618/2802 / Wider Professional
Practice and Development in education and training
Academic Year 2022/2023
Task 1
Introduction
The concept of professionalism in education
and training is often associated with traditional and well-regarded careers
such as medicine and law. The topic of professionalism is extensively
researched by educational and training professionals and deals with a wide range
of practices specific to a particular field. Problems arising from these
practices, such as prejudice towards students or administrative staff, are not
uncommon and require careful examination and possible solutions.
Professionalism can also be tied to the status and prestige of a profession,
which typically has high social value, demanding standards, and a sense of
societal responsibility.
1.1 Professionalism
and dual professionalism in education and training
With the rise of commercialization, many
teachers and employees are striving for professionalism to enhance their
status. Research on professions such as nursing, journalism, social work, and
tourism suggests that these occupations have improved their professional
standing, and that professional organizations play a crucial role in promoting
professionalism. Surprisingly, there has been limited analysis of
professionalism in the tourism industry, despite the existence of professional
associations for many years. The study looks at the engagement of professionals
at different levels, including junior staff, middle managers, and senior
leaders, using a well-designed framework. Eight aspects of professionalism are
identified, including passion, sensitivity, openness to new technologies,
team-oriented mentality, skills, well-established accountability systems, high
ethical standards, and professionalism (Mayer and Job 2016).
Dual professionalism can be broadly divided
into three strands. The first is limited to analyzing the tourism industry, its
occupational attributes and common professions. The second strand, the most
prominent sociological approach, focuses on the processes of related
recognition and control used by professional organizations to attain
professional status for specific occupations. The third, which is the latest
research, shifts attention towards the role of corporate entities in promoting
professionalism.
The success of the tourism industry
globally will ultimately depend on its professionalism. Dual professionalism is
a multi-faceted concept, but there is still a lack of agreement on its
dimensions (Li, Law et al. 2021).
1.2 Effect of
professional values in my special area
Tour guide professionals play a crucial
role in the travel industry. They can turn a formal tour into a memorable
experience through their knowledge of culture and their interpersonal and
management skills. Although the job responsibilities of tour guides may not be
as lucrative as other careers and their livelihoods may depend on other sources
of income. Professionalization has become a highly competitive issue,
especially in Asia as it recovers from the effects of the Asian financial
crisis. Professionalism issues in tourism were identified through an extensive
set of in-depth and focus group interviews and research. Recommendations
include the establishment of checkpoints and standards to ensure higher
standards of service delivery by local guides. The experiences of professional
tourism policies are unique and there are few common issues across this
profession. Despite this, the profession continues to strive for improvement in
professionalism, status, and administrative professionalism of tour management
worldwide (Xiang, Stienmetz et al. 2021).
Being skilled is associated with having
strong abilities and competencies in your specific profession. It's clear that
you must have the experience and abilities to perform your job well. However,
this is not enough to win over clients. Professionalism involves the traits and
practices you exhibit and the way you conduct yourself during business
dealings. Professionals are held accountable for their actions at all times.
Even in tough times, a professional must maintain their composure. When faced
with challenges or objections, they should express themselves in a structured
manner and keep it honest, respectful, and transparent. This is where
individuals with high emotional intelligence earn the most respect. There is no
greater way to destroy your integrity, credibility, and reputation than by
losing your temper in a tense situation.
Task 2
Introduction
Educational institutions offer more than
just financial benefits. They also hold social, cultural, political, and
environmental significance. To help teaching staff understand and embrace
social change, they must acknowledge that every individual is unique with their
own culture, values, and reactions to similar circumstances. For instance, some
may be compelled by others to change their unhealthy habits like smoking or
drinking. However, some teaching staff may wrongly discriminate against others
based on their lifestyle or culture. The relationship between education and
political economy requires further examination and research to gain a better
understanding.
2.1 Ways in which social, political, and economical features effecting on the education and training.
It is important to recognize that
evaluating the impact of education goes beyond just financial benefits like
income, as it encompasses social and political values as well. The way
education contributes to changes in relationships, moral values, cultural
practices, and community engagement is just as important as its financial
benefits. This industry is often seen as a source of financial development for
economically weaker regions, as it generates employment and income for the
local community. However, these high expectations are not always met, and the
number of visitors or financial contribution may not always meet expectations
(Jamal and Higham, 2021). Teachers must consider multiple factors such as
financial contribution, impact, net turnover, appreciation, and monetary value
when evaluating the travel industry's success. This provides a more realistic
understanding of the industry and helps guide better decision making. The
relationship between politics and education is complex, as effective
administration requires coordination and collaboration among various
stakeholders. Political considerations play a crucial role in shaping policies
for the travel industry and its success relies on balancing the interests and
needs of different actors (Polyzos et al. 2021). Effective administration must
also consider sustainable approaches that consider the social, environmental,
and economic impact of education.
2.2 Impact of
current educational polices on curriculum in my special area
Tourism policies, which is my area of
expertise, are seen as a driving force for growth in developing economies. The
role of the tourism industry in shaping the trajectory of growth in these
economies is largely focused on finance. Different econometric techniques have
been used to examine the causal relationships between tourism policies and
financial development, energy and agriculture improvement, and poverty
reduction. The impact of tourism is significant in developing economies, as
data shows that a 1% increase in tourism can result in an 0.051% improvement in
GDP, a 0.134% increase in energy development, and a 0.26% boost in agriculture.
It is crucial for policymakers to be informed through open dialogue that the
tourism industry can drive growth by the development and implementation of
well-coordinated strategies. Furthermore, consistency and coherence in policies
are essential for enhancing the sustainability and maximizing the benefits of
the tourism industry (Weaver, Lawton et al. 1999).
Introduction
The success of a trusty growth depends on
effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in
the tourism industry, which is a complex social endeavour. The processes an
organization or company employs to guarantee that its products meet the desired
standards are known as quality assurance. It consists of two main components.
The first is to ensure that a product functions as intended, while the second
deals with preventing failures so that services can be delivered as planned.
Quality assurance can be implemented in a variety of industries. By focusing on
enhancing training programs, maintaining production equipment, and refining the
quality control process, an organization can improve its overall approach to
quality assurance.
3.1 Roles of
stakeholder and external bodies in education and training
The purpose of this education is to
familiarize individuals with the role of investors in promoting growth. The
stakeholders involved in the education and training program for tourism include
local residents, organizations, employees, competitors, individuals related to
the business, promoters, and tourism producers. The aim of the investors is to
study and categorize tourists based on their attitudes towards tourism.
Findings show that there are influential investors and stakeholders who play a
crucial role in providing amenities smoothly. Factors such as living
conditions, employment, training, and education play a vital role in shaping
the tourists' attitudes towards the growth of tourism (Sharma, Thomas et al.
2021).
3.2 Effect of
stakeholder and external bodies on education and training
The education sector also attracts
attention from various organizations. The investors involved in this field hold
a significant role in the responsibility of education. They allocate
substantial amounts of funding for this activity from different organizations
and welfares. One example is showing the ways of coordination between concerned
parties for the education sector's benefit. For instance, educational
institutions may develop the concept of tourism in students through education
and training programs. The city officials and school teachers are interested in
achieving this objective as they want to produce future specialists who are
knowledgeable and intelligent about education and training.
The stakeholders may arrange trips for
students to learn about tourism, utilizing welfare funds. This helps students
gain new knowledge and broaden their future perspectives. Additionally, parents
support school activities, involved suppliers provide necessary equipment and
learning materials, and all investors work together to achieve the common goal
most effectively.
3.3 It is important to work in partnership with employees and stakeholder in education and training.
It is crucial for the success of
long-lasting educational policies to involve all stakeholders, particularly
organizations, in the planning process. The implementation of education and
training initiatives cannot be successful without the participation of
stakeholders. These stakeholders include company personnel, government
advisors, and workers who provide information and guidance about various
locations. The first step in this partnership is effective communication and
planning between all parties. Building trust between government employees and
stakeholders is a vital aspect of this collaboration. The four key components of
this partnership are survey, mapping, resources, and funding (Mubeen et al.
2021).
3.4 Impact of
accountable to stakeholder and external bodies in curriculum
design, delivery and assessment in my field
The investors play a crucial role in
shaping the concept of tourism, introducing new careers, educating students,
and providing the necessary tools and materials for specialized learning. They
also design projects to enhance tourism facilities and physical activities.
Stakeholders are individuals or organizations involved in tourism facilities
and their priorities can vary and be complex. They participate in the tourism
industry directly or indirectly through the arrangements they make. The
involvement of multiple coordinators is important for tourism as it is an
expensive industry (Song et al. 2021).
Task 4
Introduction
No matter the size of your organization,
having formal policies and procedures can help it run more smoothly and
efficiently. Furthermore, if a business's safety standards fall below a established
norm and an injury occurs, the affected individual may pursue legal action for
negligence. These policies reflect the values and goals of the organization,
ensuring that employees understand what is expected of them in various
situations. With clear individual and team responsibilities outlined, there is
no need for trial and error or excessive supervision. Upon familiarizing
themselves with the workplace policies and procedures, employees must
understand how to approach their roles.
4.1 Polices, codes of practice and guidelines of an organization.
Policies, codes of practice, and guidelines
are important components of an organization's governance framework that help to
define expectations and standards for behavior, operations, and
decision-making. They play a crucial role in promoting ethical and responsible
behavior and ensuring that the organization is run in a transparent and
accountable manner.
Policies are formal, written statements
that set out the rules, principles, and expectations of an organization. They
are typically created by senior management and approved by the board of
directors, and they serve as the foundation for decision-making and action
within the organization. Examples of common organizational policies include
anti-discrimination, health and safety, data protection, and information
security policies.
Codes of practice are more specific than
policies and provide practical guidance on how policies should be applied in
specific circumstances. They are often used to provide additional detail or
clarification on a particular policy, and they may be created by relevant
departments within the organization.
Guidelines, on the other hand, are
non-binding recommendations that suggest best practices for carrying out
specific activities. They are often less formal than policies and codes of
practice, and they may be used to provide guidance to employees on how to
handle specific situations or to support the implementation of policies and
codes of practice.
In conclusion, policies, codes of practice,
and guidelines help organizations to establish a clear framework for
decision-making, ensure that employees are aware of their obligations and
responsibilities, and promote ethical and responsible behavior. They play a
critical role in ensuring that an organization operates in a transparent,
accountable, and effective manner.
4.2 Impact of Organizational requirements and expectations on curriculum and my field
A vision is a dynamic and inspiring
representation of the ideal future of a goal, designed to motivate partners to
work together to achieve this future. The most effective visioning involves
participation from all partners, creating a picture that incorporates the
diverse aspirations of all parties. A strong vision can then inspire diverse partners
to work together towards what may otherwise seem impossible. Unfortunately, it
is all too common for visioning efforts to simply result in bland, uninspiring
lists of keywords contributed by different partners. In the case of tourism,
the vision should elaborate on the desired style of tourism and the target
market for the goal. The vision may also include elements of a shared strategy,
although the "how" is often left to the mission, goals, and
strategies components of an initiative. A vision is only as strong as the
people who share it, so the evaluation team should aim to involve the widest
possible range of community representatives (Timothy 2021).
Task 5
It is commonly assumed and preferred that
we provide standard resources and items that are required by educational
institutions. However, the definition of the term has remained contentious and
controversial. Partnership is often used as a broad term for a diverse
collection of practices related to employees and employee organizations,
recognizing the various forms and critical tensions that characterize the
management of work and people. Partnership is crucial to the growth of any
profession. Business owners and managers have utilized the principle of
partnership to guide their enterprises.
5.1 Quality
improvement and quality confidence arrangements in own organization
Educational institutions often strive to
maintain high standards of confidence and provide exceptional facilities and
customer support to meet the demands of their clients. Teachers play a crucial
role in ensuring that this is achieved. There are various tools that measure
the quality of the facilities offered, and early surveys have shown that
investors highly value the standards of educational institutions. Studies also suggest
that the comfort and satisfaction of hotel rooms are essential components in
building self-assurance.
High standards of performance are driven by
two key factors: the quality of products and the provision of comfortable
facilities. A commitment to maintaining these standards forms the cornerstone
of a successful service-oriented approach to education and training (Sharpley
and Telfer, 2015).
5.2 Self-assessment
and self-evaluation in the quality cycle
The survey highlights the evolution of the
standardization process in education, and also covers the impact of climate
factors. In the realm of education, having a standardized atmosphere is
crucial. The survey showcases the variety of class and environmental practices
in use around the world, including commonly used grading systems and management
approaches, as well as specific tourism-related concepts. The aim of this
research is to gather comprehensive information on the class and climate
practices in the tourism industry and to address the pressing issue of change.
The results provide valuable insights for the development of better class
practices in tourism, both in terms of quality standards and their
implementation. The findings of this comprehensive analysis are useful for both
national tourism corporations and the educational sector, as they can use them
to better understand trends in class practices and improve their standards
(Abram and Waldren, 2021).
5.3 Learning
program taking account of the Quality arrangements of own organization
The financial well-being of many countries
is greatly influenced by the education and training sector. The impact of
tourism on employment and income is significant and policies that regulate and
support its growth play a crucial role in providing these economic benefits.
The educational aspect of tourism is receiving increased attention from the
public. The development of tourism education policies is complex and involves
factors such as the design of the curriculum, the gathering of evidence, and
the influence on planning. Studying tourism can be challenging due to its close
relationship with a country's economy. There have been various methods, tools,
and approaches developed to study tourism, with varying degrees of success, in
different organizations.
5.4 learning
program taking account of the outcomes of evaluation of my special field
The tourists contribute to the creation,
development, and implementation of trustworthy events. The development of a
consistent model enables the identification of key characteristics of companies
and individuals involved in the tourism industry. In order to better understand
tourism, special courses are offered to study the various destinations,
challenges encountered during travel, and available facilities. A stable
tourism industry is both achievable and advantageous for all stakeholders. This
approach outlines a strategic plan for tourism that aims to address the
imbalance by considering the needs of the people, utilizing effective
educational methods, and comprehending the characteristics of tourists.
Professionalism in the tourism sector is
crucial in ensuring that industry standards and regulations are followed. It instils
discipline and order, helping to maintain a high level of quality and
consistency within the industry. Tourism is a vital aspect of any country's
economic growth and development, but it is unfortunately often impacted by
political disruptions. This is why various organizations and non-government
agencies are working to improve the socio-economic conditions of the country.
These efforts aim to create a stable and supportive environment for the tourism
industry, allowing it to reach its full potential and contribute to the overall
prosperity of the nation. In addition to promoting professionalism within the
industry, organizations and agencies are also working to improve the
infrastructure and services offered to tourists. This includes developing
better transportation systems, providing more comfortable and affordable
accommodations, and promoting local culture and heritage. By doing so, these
organizations hope to create a more attractive and appealing destination for
tourists, increasing the overall growth and development of the tourism
industry. Overall, professionalism and improvement efforts in the tourism
industry are essential for ensuring its continued success and growth. By
fostering a supportive and stable environment, and improving the services and
facilities offered to tourists, organizations and agencies can help to create a
thriving and sustainable tourism industry that benefits both the local
community and the broader economy.
